Revelation 5:1-14
Carl Trueman: The days when Christians could be both respected by their society and faithful to their beliefs are drawing rapidly to a close. The terms of membership in civic society and in the church are becoming increasingly antithetical.
1 | Jesus Christ is the central person of history (5:1-5)
2 | The cross and resurrection are the central events of history (5:6-7)
- Augustine: He endured death as a lamb; he devoured it as a lion.
3 | The worship of Christ is the central purpose of history (5:8-14)
The Hopefulness Of The Promise Of "New" Things In Revelation:
1. New name (2:17)
2. New Jerusalem (21:2)
3. New Heaven, New Earth (21:1)
4. God will makes all things new (21:5)
Take Aways From Revelation 5:
1. There's One on the throne and his purpose in history is to exalt the Lamb of God.
2. John shows all marginalized churches (and believers) that we are a part of an innumerable multitude of Christ worshipers.
3. Christ by his victory has taken control of the world's destiny.
