John 5:30-47

 

 

1 | Witness One: John the Baptist bears witness that Jesus is sent by the Father as Messiah. (5:32-35)

 

 

2 | Witness Two: Jesus' miracles bear witness that Jesus is sent by the Father as Messiah. (5:36)

- John 10:25, 37-38 

 

 

3 | Witness Three: The Scriptures bear witness that Jesus is sent by the Father as Messiah. (5:37-47)

How is Christ predicted in the Old Testament:

1. Prophecies (Genesis 3:15; 49:10; Psalm 110:1)

2. Pictures. Types.

3. Presence. There are occasions when God appears and speaks to man. (Exodus 3; Joshua 5)

4. Providence. Old Testament history is on a trajectory that leads to Jesus. (Ephesians 1:10)

5. Precepts. The Law was never the way to salvation-but to show our need for the Savior.

6. Problems. There are problems that only a Messiah-King can fix.

7. Promises. All the promises of new creation, resurrection, etc. (2 Corinthians 1:20)
