James 3:1-12

1 | The Tongue Is Evidence (3:1-2)

2 | The Tongue Is Powerful (3:3-5a)

3 | The Tongue is Destructive (3:5-6)

4 |  The Tongue Is Uncontrollable (3:7-12)

5 | The Tongue is Revealing (3:9-12)

Steps For Addressing the Problem Tongue:

(1) Be mindful that the depth of your sin and your need of saving grace are all evidenced in your words

(2) Remember (if you are a believer) you are a new creation in Christ

(3) Ferguson: The slaying of inner pride and the illumination of our minds in regeneration create a new disposition and affection. The true convert will have a Jacob-like limp in his speech…because in spiritual anatomy…the heart and the tongue are directly connected

(4) Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly...
